The ESA’s Navigation Innovation and Support Program, NAVISP, aims to enhance European competitiveness in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) by developing innovative products and services. To achieve this, the program focuses on integrating satellite navigation systems (GNSS) with various technologies such as inertial sensors, artificial vision, 5G and increasingly, artificial intelligence (AI).
Through the integration of AI and collaborative efforts with European industry and academia, progress is being made to improve the space and terrestrial weather forecasting, optimize the performance of autonomous cars and ships, and assist in identifying unauthorized drones in sensitive airspace.
